Linden wood panel (thickness 1”) carved in bas-relief (depth 6 mm).
12” x 15” (31,5 x 38 cm)
Tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, the greatest genius of all time.
Reinterpretation carved with chisel in Florentine technique of the famous self-portrait dating back to around 1515. The work shows the white-haired face, with long hair and long beard, bald at the top of the head. The frown is turned to the right, with a serious and slightly pouting expression. The signs of aging are evident, with furrows along the forehead, around the eyes and on the sides of the mouth along the cheeks. The attention to detail conveys great intensity and depth to the portrait. Made in 2019, the 500th anniversary of his death.
